PITTSBORO, Ind. — TJ Speed Motorsports is set to return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the iconic Month of May, entering Christian Cameron and Thomas Schrage in the USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire championship during the Sonsio Grand Prix weekend. The event will mark Rounds 3 and 4 of the 18-race 2026 championship, with racing set to take place on the legendary 2.439-mile IMS road course in support of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
The 16-year-old Cameron steps up from the USF2000 championship, where he completed his 2025 rookie season, finishing 11th in the standings. The young American has already made a strong early impression in his first season at the USF Pro 2000 level. Cameron set the benchmark time in USF Pro 2000 pre-season testing at Homestead-Miami Speedway's road course, posting the fastest lap of the two-day test — a sign of his natural pace and adaptability. At the season-opening Streets of Arlington, Cameron celebrated his 16th birthday a week late by driving a fine race for TJ Speed Motorsports to finish fifth — a strong result for the youngest driver in the field.
Schrage also showed top-five pace in practice and qualified eighth, but an incident in Race 1 led to a DNF. He bounced back in Race 2, charging from 16th all the way to ninth in a spirited drive forward. Schrage had been running inside the top 10 in Race 1 before a caution-triggering incident ended his run early, but the speed was clearly there.
Now, Cameron and Schrage head to what many consider the most storied address in motorsport, with the full weight of a proven TJ Speed program behind him.
TJ Speed Motorsports knows exactly what it takes to win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. In 2025, rookie standout Ariel Elkin led the way with two victories at IMS, sweeping pole position in all three races and showcasing dominant pace throughout the busy event. Elkin's maiden USF Pro 2000 victory came in dramatic fashion as the polesitter held off the field in a fight to the finish on the Grand Prix road course for TJ Speed. The following day, in front of a huge crowd in perfect weather conditions immediately prior to the INDYCAR Series event, Elkin fought off all comers to score his second win of the weekend for the locally-based team.
"Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a very special place for this team," explained TJ Speed Team Owner Tim Neff. "What Ariel accomplished there last year — two wins, three poles in a single weekend — was something we're extremely proud of. Now we get to come back with Christian, who has shown real talent and maturity for a 16-year-old. He was the fastest in pre-season testing and has already shown he can run at the front. The IMS road course rewards precision, and we believe he's ready for the moment."
