WINDERMERE, Fla. – Leonardo Escorpioni is set to return to USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire competition this weekend as the championship heads to Portland International Raceway for the sixth event weekend of the 2026 season with the championship points chase on his mind.
Fresh off a dominant sweep at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the young HMD Motorsports Development Driver enters the weekend atop the championship standings after establishing himself as one of the series' most consistent front-runners through the opening rounds of the season. His Mid-Ohio performance saw him capture all three race victories while securing pole position for the first two races, vaulting himself into the championship lead with momentum firmly on his side heading west.
Portland International Raceway has been a staple of American open-wheel racing for decades. The 1.967-mile, 12-turn circuit will not only provide the next challenge for Escorpioni, but all USF Pro 2000 drivers, the future of motorsports.
With the championship battle beginning to intensify, Escorpioni is focused on continuing the consistency that has defined his season.
“We're in a really good position heading into Portland, but there's still a lot of racing left this season,” explained Escorpioni. “Every weekend is another opportunity to score points and fight for wins, so the focus is staying consistent while continuing to push for the front. The team has given me an incredible car all year, and after the momentum we built at Mid-Ohio, we're excited to see what we can accomplish this weekend.”
As the championship enters its critical second half, Escorpioni heads to Portland determined to defend his points lead while continuing his impressive run of form in the 2026 USF Pro 2000 season. The race weekend begins Thursday with official testing before the action ramps up on Friday with practice, qualifying and race one. The weekend concludes Saturday with the second and final race of the event.
