WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Leonardo Escorpioni made his mark on the Milwaukee Mile over the weekend, earning a second-place finish with Turn 3 Motorsport and securing his second oval podium in the USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire championship.
Returning to oval competition for only the second time in his career, Escorpioni arrived in Milwaukee with valuable preparation already under his belt following a strong test at the historic venue. After competing at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in May, the Brazilian rookie entered the weekend confident in his pace and determined to make up ground in the championship after missing Rounds 13 and 14 in Markham, Canada.
The Milwaukee Mile presented a unique challenge, with the 1.015-mile oval featuring just nine degrees of banking. As the oldest operating motor speedway in the world, the historic circuit demands the utmost precision and consistency, with its relatively flat layout leaving little margin for error.
Escorpioni carried his pace into Saturday morning qualifying, securing a third-place starting position for the 75-lap contest. Originally scheduled to run following the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on Saturday afternoon, the USF Pro 2000 race was postponed to Sunday due to weather, leaving drivers with nearly 29 hours between qualifying and the green flag.
When the race finally got underway, Escorpioni wasted no time making his move. The Brazilian launched from third and quickly climbed into second, putting pressure on the leader and remaining in contention throughout the 75-lap battle. While he ultimately could not close the gap to the front, Escorpioni brought the #4 Turn 3 Motorsport entry across the line in second to secure his second oval podium of the season and add valuable points to his championship campaign.
“It feels really good to be back on the podium in USF Pro 2000,” commented Escorpioni. “Especially after missing the previous doubleheader in Canada, I knew how crucial this weekend was. The team gave me a great car all weekend, and I knew we had the pace to fight at the front. I wanted to get the win, but second is a strong result and gives us some important points heading into Road America. Now we have to keep pushing and finish the season as strong as possible.”
With the Milwaukee Mile podium secured, Escorpioni now turns his attention to the USF Pro 2000 season finale at Road America on September 24–26. The championship will be decided across the tripleheader weekend, with Rounds 16, 17 and 18 bringing the 2026 season to its conclusion.
