BROWNSBURG, Ind. – Leonardo Escorpioni will make his USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire oval debut this week as he and Turn 3 Motorsports head to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for the Carb Night Classic. The event on Thursday, May 21, has been brought forward one day due to rain forecast on Friday and marks the first oval round of Escorpioni's USF Pro 2000 career and one of the marquee dates on the championship calendar.
Escorpioni enters the weekend third in the championship standings, buoyed by an earlier-season victory at the Arlington Grand Prix that established him as one of the title contenders in the series. However, the rising star is also looking to bounce back from a difficult Indianapolis Grand Prix weekend, where his Race 2 ended with the car upside down — a frustrating result he and the Turn 3 Motorsports crew are eager to put behind them.
The Carb Night Classic represents both a fresh challenge and a fresh start. Oval racing introduces an entirely different skill set and Escorpioni is approaching the weekend with a focused, learning-first mindset, while still chasing a competitive result.
"I'm really excited for my first oval race in USF Pro 2000," said Escorpioni. "The Carb Night Classic is one of the most iconic events of the season, and to make my oval debut here is something special. Indy GP didn't go the way we wanted, especially in Race 2, but the team has done a great job preparing the car and getting me ready for this new challenge. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can in testing, getting comfortable through practice and qualifying, and putting together a strong Freedom 90 on Thursday night. We're third in the championship and want to keep pushing forward."
The Carb Night Classic is a longstanding tradition during Indianapolis 500 race week, delivering high-intensity, short-track racing under the lights and serving as one of the most prestigious oval events on the USF Pro 2000 calendar.
