Dawsonville, GA – VRD Racing is pleased to announce that Teddy Musella will advance to the USF Pro 2000 Championship for the 2026 season following an exceptional rookie campaign in USF2000. The Orlando, Florida native secured second place in the 2025 USF2000 Championship thanks to victories at Road America and Portland and nine podiums across the rest of the season in what proved to be one of the most competitive seasons in series history.
Musella's breakthrough season showcased both his raw speed and consistency. After claiming his maiden USF2000 victory at Road America in June, the 16-year-old driver built momentum through the summer before capping off the season with a win at Portland International Raceway. The win propelled him to the runner-up spot in the championship by a single point.
“After the great year and success we had with VRD last season, we have decided to move up into USF Pro 2000,” remarked Musella. “This will bring new and exciting challenges, and I am confident we can achieve the same success again.”
Musella's path to USF Pro 2000 reflects steady progression through the junior single-seater ranks. Before joining VRD Racing for 2025, he captured the Ligier JS F4 Series championship in 2024 with Scuderia Buell, dominating the season with five victories and 12 podiums in 15 races.
VRD Racing’s Dan Mitchell emphasized Musella’s impressive progression: “Teddy proved last season that he has both the speed and the discipline to compete for wins. We expect Teddy to continue where he left off in USF2000 and start his Pro 2000 campaign strong in Arlington.”
The step up to the USF Pro 2000 car delivers a significant performance increase, with the IP-22 chassis featuring enhanced engine output and increased downforce compared to the USF2000 machine. Musella will begin adapting to the more powerful car through VRD Racing's comprehensive winter testing program, laying the foundation for what promises to be a competitive 2026 campaign.
