Top-Six Results for Golan and Monteiro Highlight Strong Event for Turn 3 Motorsport
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Turn 3 Motorsport brought home another podium finish this weekend as Alessandro de Tullio secured second place in the Freedom 90 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, the only oval event on the 2025 USF Pro 2000 Presented by Continental Tire calendar. The 0.686-mile oval offered a high-speed challenge with 1.5x championship points up for grabs, and the team delivered with three drivers finishing in the top six.
All five Turn 3 Motorsport drivers successfully completed the 90-lap race without incident, showcasing consistency, pace and composure in one of the most unique and demanding events of the season. De Tullio’s second-place finish brings him to third in the championship standings at the halfway mark of the season, keeping him well within reach of the title fight.
The weekend began with a standout performance from Nicholas Monteiro, who topped the timesheets in the second of two pre-event test sessions — his first time going P1 in any official USF Pro 2000 session. In qualifying, de Tullio earned a strong third-place starting spot, while rookie Brady Golan impressed with a P5 grid position in his oval debut. Monteiro qualified eighth, followed by Cooper Becklin in P13 and Tyke Durst in P16.
Race Recap
At the green flag, de Tullio held steady in third place while Monteiro quickly moved into sixth. Golan slipped back to eighth but regrouped, working his way forward with confidence. Becklin and Durst each gained positions within the first few laps, settling into early race rhythm.
Around Lap 30, Golan and Monteiro were swapping positions in a close battle just outside the top five. Golan showed maturity beyond his years, eventually taking over P5 from Max Taylor and proving his adaptability on the oval.
The race saw its only caution just before the halfway point, bunching the field back together for a restart on Lap 57. De Tullio took advantage of the restart, making a clean move to slot into second place, where he remained for the duration of the race while chasing down leader Ariel Elkin.
Behind him, Golan continued to impress by locking in fifth place at the checkered flag, earning his best result of the season. Monteiro recovered from an earlier shuffle to finish sixth, marking his fourth consecutive P6 finish — his best result in the series — and making it three Turn 3 Motorsport cars in the top six by race end.
#44 Alessandro De Tullio // USF Pro 2000 Astropay
“It was a really solid weekend at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The team provided an amazing car to fight for the win, but unfortunately we came just short with a P2 finish. Nonetheless, it’s a great result with good points, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on this momentum.”
#3 Brady Golan // USF Pro 2000
“We closed out the best month of the year with a good one. Ovals are super tough and very tedious, but working with Ernie Gonella and Turn 3 Motorsport made it a lot easier. Considering we missed all private testing, the pace we had was amazing. I had a few close moments during the race, but running with the leaders felt absolutely amazing. We are slowly climbing the charts, all thanks to Turn 3 Motorsport.”
#22 Nicholas Monteiro // USF Pro 2000 Pegcard
“We had a strong weekend from the very beginning, going P1 in the second pre-event test session and building on that pace throughout the event. To take another sixth-place result and make it four in a row is a great reflection of the team’s effort. We’ll keep the momentum going into Road America next month.”
#2 Cooper Becklin // USF Pro 2000 Helmet House
“It was a very big learning experience for me being my first time on an oval, but I had a great time and left the weekend happy. I had a great car and great support from the team all weekend, pushing me and allowing me to conquer the oval.”
#33 Tyke Durst // USF Pro 2000 Freight Handlers Inc. / Relay Payments / Drive Toward a Cure
“It was a tough weekend at our only oval event this season. We can take the lessons we learned and walk out with all four corners on the car. We’ll have to come back stronger as we start the second half of the season at Road America next month for another triple header.”
Team Owner, Peter Dempsey
“Overall it was a successful weekend. Ovals are always very demanding both on the driver side and the engineering side. We rolled off the truck in a good spot for the drivers which made our weekend easier not having to chase the setup much at all. All five drivers did an outstanding job to not do any damage over the weekend which was important to maximize the track time in preparation for the race.”
“Alessandro drove a very smart and patient race, and he pounced when he needed to in order to secure a strong P2,” continued Dempsey. “Nick and both missed the test last week, so for them to come home in the top six was an amazing achievement. Tyke and Cooper learned a lot over the weekend that will only make them stronger moving forward. Now we regroup and focus on the Road America series test in June ahead of the race weekend later that month. I’m proud of all the hard work put in by all the team members as it was a really tough stretch from Indy GP to LOR. Thank you to everyone at Turn 3 Motorsport.”
Turn 3 Motorsport will return to action next month at Wisconsin’s Road America road course for an official series test June 11-12 and Rounds 10/11/12 of the USF Pro 2000 Championship June 19-22.
