Toronto, Ont., Canada – Juncos Racing’s Diego Ferreira captures second in Round 7 and Round 8 of the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires on the Streets of Toronto. Juncos Racing remains second in the team points 2013 Pro Mazda Championship.

Currently second in the driver championship Venezuelan Diego Ferreira, 19, driver of the #57 Juncos Racing/Team Viso Venezuela car gained his sixth podium of the season with a second place finish in both races on the Streets of Toronto. Ferreira

"A great finish for the both races here in Toronto, back on the podium with two second place finishes,” said Ferreira.  “I'm really happy to be back on the street courses and the road courses with good results.  Saturday’s race was pretty good after a bad qualifying with 5th but for the race we set up a good car.  I went from fifth to third on the first lap and then I had a battle with Piedrahita for many laps.  He did a great job and then I was finally able to pass him for second place.  Matthew was very far on the first place so I didn't have a chance to catch him.

"I started in sixth place on Sunday and passed a lot of cars throughout out the race.  We had a standing start, which I like.  We had a lot of standing starts last year.  I did my best and the car was better than yesterday but it took me a few laps to gain the second position.  When I finally got to the second position Matthew was already gone. I did my best and the team was really good.  I started from the back both races and finished second so I am happy with that.   We are going to stay in the fight for the championship.  I am currently second in the championship and Matthew continues to stay in first. We'll see what happens next weekend at Mosport."

Rookie Scott Anderson, driving the #44 Juncos Racing/Neuropathy Testing Center/Laser Nail Centers car, made an unexpected pit stop to change a flat tire due to a race incident finishing 10th in Round 7 and finished Round 8’s race in 9th after making contact with the wall.

"Obviously this isn't the result we wanted,” said Anderson. “It was a poor result but there are still a lot of positives this weekend.  We were able to run times comparable to Brabham and not many people have been able to do that this year.  My engineer, Ernie, Ricardo and myself have been doing a program the past couple months where I am spending more time in the shop and they have taught me more about the technical aspects of a race car.  It's helped me to find aspects of racing that I need to work and they're coaching me through the technical parts of a race car.  We really struggled at St. Petersburg, I just couldn't figure out the car and I couldn't get the car to work for me.  After working with Juncos and doing this program, it has taught me a lot about the car and I have learned so much that I am able to put the pieces together.  This weekend it has really shown.  Even though the race weekend wasn't great for me, I was able to put in the second fastest race lap during race one at a track I have never been to. I think we have to move forward to Mosport and concentrate on that now."

Standing second in the team points championship, Ricardo Juncos, Team Owner, was pleased with both driver’s performances despite their different results. Juncos’s driver development program continues to gain notice as his drivers excel in their confidence on the track.

"I'm very happy with the overall result today,” said Juncos. “It was a lot of effort from the team and the drivers.  We struggled a little bit in qualifying yesterday. We are fighting for the championship with Diego and this is the first time for Scott at this track. We had an excellent result today.  We finished second with Diego and we're keeping the championship alive.  After Scott's crash early in the race we were able to fix the car on the pits and send him back out to the track.  He put a great fast last close to Brabham and he will start second.  I am really happy with the two drivers we have and the whole team with the effort this weekend.  I'm also very glad that the driver development and coaching program we are doing with Scott is working.  We started working with him a few months ago and I am happy with his result.  Now we can show him how much he is improving throughout the season.  I'm so happy with today's result and we will keep looking for the championship.”
