Team Pelfrey’s Santiago “Santi” Urrutia continued to impress in last weekend’s pair of races that comprised the Mazda Grand Prix of Alabama at the scenic and challenging Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. Urrutia, 18, from Miguelete, Uruguay, moved to within a point of the lead in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires following a third-place finish on Saturday, and even though he lost a little ground in Race Two on Sunday, finishing second to series leader Neil Alberico, he lies just eight points in arrears with five of 16 races now in the books.

Timothé Buret scored his second podium of the season this weekend at the Mazda Grand Prix of Alabama in what turned out to be another successful event for the young Frenchman in his rookie Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires season.

Will Owen scored his best finish of the season this weekend after crossing the line in fourth position for race number two of the Mazda Grand Prix of Alabama. The rookie driver also scored a ninth-place finish during race number one and has now climbed into the top 10 in points for the Pro Mazda Presented by Cooper Tires championship.

The battle for the championship in the Expert class of the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires was a draw at Barber Motorsports Park last weekend, as M1 Racing's Jay Horak took the class victory on Saturday with his AutoEnginuity #37 but finished second to his primary rival on Sunday.

Neil Alberico opened the day with a big win in Pro Mazda Presented by Cooper Tires competition to take his third victory of the season and grow his lead in the championship.
