To win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a career highlight for all race car drivers. For Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires driver Will Owen, earning his first Mazda Road to Indy victory last year at the Indianapolis Grand Prix was just the next step in a journey that he hopes eventually will take him to the Verizon IndyCar Series.

The Mazda Road to Indy concluded in style last weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., highlighted by Team Pelfrey’s Uruguayan hot-shoe Santiago “Santi” Urrutia clinching a hard-fought Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires title by virtue of a pair of second-place finishes.

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing finished third in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires this past weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, September 10-13. Driver Neil Alberico finished second in the driver standings.

Juncos Racing’s Garett Grist swept the final weekend of the 2015 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires capturing both wins in Rounds 15 and 16 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Teammate Will Owen added another podium finish for Juncos Racing, taking third in Round 15. Juncos Racing ends the season taking home their second consecutive team championship by recording four wins, six poles and 16 podium finishes among the four driver team.

Scholarship prizes and awards totaling more than $2.3 million were distributed during last night’s Championship Celebration banquet at the Monterey Plaza Hotel following another hugely successful Mazda Road to Indy season which concluded this past weekend at nearby Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Just shy of 300 people attended the banquet including more than 30 drivers representing 12 nations from around the globe
